Moore Wilson's began life in
Wellington back in 1918 as a General Wholesale merchant. From the day the
door opened, it's been a family business, managed day-to-day by the Moore
family. You will find the family has very hands on approach to store
management and this is reflected in the friendly personality and character
of the stores.
There are now 4 Moore Wilson Cash and Carry stores in the
Wellington region developed around the needs of the region's food service
industry. While Wellington city has been Moore Wilson's home since the
early days, over the years stores were also opened in Masterton (1944),
Porirua (1960) and Lower Hutt (1978).
Today Moore Wilson's is where the cafes, restaurant, chefs and caterers of the Wellington region shop for their wide-ranging food service needs.
In the 1990's, the range of products was broadened even further with the opening of Moore Wilson Fresh, a specialist department single-mindedly focussed on fresh foods. Since the opening of Moore Wilson's Fresh, increasing numbers of household shoppers have discovered what Moore Wilson's is all about. The unique Fresh concept now offers household shopping in Wellington, Porirua and Masterton. Lower Hutt remains solely devoted to the food service industry.
The word "Wurstladen" means sausage shop in German and we are located on Hardy Street, next to Brumbys. Our sausages are gluten and dairy free and taste delicious.
You will taste that Bernd, our German butcher, has years of experience making traditional German sausages! Don't take our word for it, pop on down and try one of our sizzling tasty sausages in a bun.
We also stock traditional, locally made Dutch style cheeses, imported European cheeses and various German products.
